Behind the Scenes: A New Lollipop Lyra Photoshoot with @studanz

Sometimes the work that happens away from an event is just as important as what happens in front of an audience.

We recently spent time in the studio with photographer @studanz, creating a fresh collection of imagery featuring one of our favourite rig-free circus apparatuses, Lollipop Lyra.

Creating imagery that represents the performance

When an event producer is searching for entertainment, photography often provides their first impression of an act.

We wanted this shoot to capture more than a performer simply posing with an apparatus. The goal was to showcase the lines, movement and sculptural quality that make Lollipop Lyra such an eye-catching addition to an event.

Stu was a joy to work with. Circus photoshoots can be physically demanding, with performers repeatedly holding positions and recreating movements to capture the right moment. His relaxed and supportive approach made the process seamless, and there were plenty of laughs along the way.

Why Lollipop Lyra works for events

Lollipop Lyra combines the visual language of aerial hoop with a freestanding apparatus, opening up possibilities for venues where traditional overhead aerial rigging may not be suitable.

For corporate events, gala dinners, awards nights, nightclubs and brand activations, it can create a strong visual performance moment without requiring the same setup as a traditional aerial act.
