Bringing Interactive Circus to Horizontal Festival at Centennial Vineyards
Chaos Meets Circus and Cirqular Entertainment brought a hands-on interactive circus zone to Horizontal Festival at Centennial Vineyards, creating a playful experience designed to get people involved, not just watching from the sidelines.
Led by professional circus performers Kylie Simpson and James Bustar, the activation gave festivalgoers the opportunity to try circus skills, connect with each other and enjoy a shared experience throughout the event.
The Brief
Horizontal Festival needed entertainment that could sit naturally within the festival environment and give guests something engaging to discover throughout the day.
Rather than delivering a traditional stage show, the focus was on participation.
The goal was simple, create an experience that encouraged people to stop, have a go, laugh, interact and become part of the entertainment themselves.
The Solution
Through Chaos Meets Circus, Cirqular Entertainment delivered an interactive circus workshop activation at Centennial Vineyards.
The circus zone was designed to be approachable for a broad festival audience, allowing guests to move through at their own pace and try different circus skills.
Activities included interactive circus play such as juggling, hoops and other hands-on skills, creating plenty of opportunities for spontaneous participation.
For Kylie Simpson and James Bustar, this style of activation is about much more than teaching circus tricks. It is about creating a reason for people to connect.
Parents joined in with children, friends challenged each other, and guests who may never normally step into a performance environment were able to become part of the experience.
Why Interactive Entertainment Works at Festivals
Interactive entertainment can completely change the way guests experience an event.
Instead of simply moving from one performance or attraction to another, audiences have the opportunity to actively participate.
For festivals, this can help create:
Longer engagement with an activation
Memorable shared experiences
Entertainment suitable for mixed age groups
Strong visual moments for event photography and social media
Natural interaction between performers and guests
A flexible entertainment option that can complement other programming
For Horizontal Festival, the circus zone created a relaxed, colourful space where people could stop, play and engage throughout the day.
